Arts Open 2018
March 10- 12th & 17 & 18th
Welcome to Arts Open 2018: Meet the Makers
Visual artists from all corners of Mount Alexander Shire will throw open their studio doors for Arts Open 2018. Members of the public have a unique opportunity to meet the artists our region is renowned for, witness the spaces in which work is created, gain insights into the creative process and purchase work directly from the artists.
Held biennially, 2018 will be the fourth Arts Open. Due to increasing visitor demand and previous success of the festival, it will be held over two weekends; Labour Day weekend from March 10-12 and 17-18.
Personal studios plus a series of group exhibitions showcasing over 90 professional painters, printmakers, jewellers, sculptors, multimedia artists and craftspeople across the townships of Castlemaine, Newstead, Maldon, Chewton and beyond will be open over both weekends. This year, the Castlemaine Market Building will be the Arts Open festival information hub and will present an exhibition of outstanding work from the region.
Attracting well over 6,000 visitors in 2016, Arts Open 2018 is expected to exceed this number. Visitors come from afar: Melbourne, Sydney, and regional centres such as Ballarat, Geelong and Bendigo; making Arts Open a fantastic weekend for everyone.
