I draw using charcoal to create large realistic portraits, occasionally adding gold leaf. I photograph local people with interesting faces and enjoy perfecting each detail of the portrait. In 2017 I toured 30 drawings for The Baby Farmer book. These drawings, the book and my portrait drawings will all be on display.
“Beauty and life-experience intrigue me equally. I draw using charcoal to create large realistic portraits, occasionally adding gold leaf or coloured pastel. I spent many hours reworking details and depth, to achieve realism, challenging myself to develop my charcoal drawing techniques. I’m always on the lookout for interesting faces, and often photograph and draw local people. The aim of my artworks is to be accurate but also to capture and evoke the life and experience of the person in the portrait.” Chloe Neath
