Leslie Thornton has lived and worked in the arts in Castlemaine for 47 years, including 20 where he was the manager of the Theatre Royal. His work includes cartoons, collage, assemblage, repurposing as well as fine art – oil painting. Over the years he has painted over 50 works that focus on Castlemaine and surrounds buildings that don’t rate National Trust A listing. This body of work is known as the B-list. It is ongoing.
After life changing surgery in October 2019 Leslie has not returned to his usual rate of productivity – though he will. The 2020 Open Studio will see a celebration of part B of Leslie’s life. You will see a recent electrical weaving, a new website capturing Leslie’s work to date……some fun from the archives, perhaps a few new works…….and a tribute poem by The Green Man.
