Leslie Thornton’s gallery at 10 Rowe Street Castlemaine will host a front yard spectacle of repetition and movement for this year’s Arts Open.
SWAY was produced in Werribee in response to the City of Wyndham’s Red Redux program that invited local artists to make works for the annual Red Festival held over the month of December. What’s it doing here? Will Francis, gold and silversmith and Sway maker is a regular in the goldfields where he sources gems and liaises with his stone cutter and numerous creative friends.
He says, “the dancing structures move to their own varied and unpredictable rhythm, encouraging you to sway in response.”
Visually, SWAY invites the viewer to participate in this dance and to move in response.
Come SWAY with us during Arts Open!
